Baytown / Mont Belvieu

Residential and commercial expansion is booming in this community built on the financial backbone of the petrochemical industry. New shopping centers are constantly being built on the north side of town while the Historic Goose Creek south side of town is undergoing a booming resurgence as the Arts, Culture, and Entertainment (ACE) District is taking hold along Texas Avenue. Wazabi Sushibar, The Whiskey Barn, O’Neals, El Toros and the Pipeline Grill all offer great places to hang out, have great food and drinks and spend an evening relaxing with friends. Take in an evening at Showbiz Cinema at SH146 & I-10 and enjoy great movies, bowling, drinks and a great menu of food. With numerous shopping centers along both 146 and Garth Road, the Baytown/Mont Belvieu area has grown exponentially in the last several years.

Garden Oaks / Oak Forest

If you could pick only one areas as an example of transformative growth over the last several years, the Garden Oaks/Oak Forest area would be it. Gorgeously remodeled homes with a beautifully vintage, mid-century construction with trendy commerce and great brew-pubs, this area is a favorite among Houstonians. Regardless of whether you’re enjoying a great burger and cocktail on the patio of Cottonwood’s, or a fun evening at the Wakefield Crowbar, or you’re simply enjoying a relaxing afternoon of shopping at any one of the various markets around the area, you’ll feel like you’re right where everyone wishes they could be.

Clear Lake / Webster

Still one of our favorite spots after all these years, the Clear Lake area continues to reinvent itself and offer wonderful dining and shopping experiences. Baybrook Mall has recently undergone a tremendous expansion project and not only added some great new stores but a whole outdoor shopping, dining and entertainment experience as well. Of course, there are always other options like Main Event or Top Golf, not to mention the best Indian food in the entire Houston area: Cuisine of India. Or, grab some amazing Tex-Mex at Mamacita’s and have one of their face-numbing Millennium Margaritas. Whichever way you go, you can’t go wrong.

The Montrose/Heights area truly has it all: quaint cottages, gorgeous vintage-style new construction, a thriving arts and theatre community, wonderful shopping and dining, trails and walkable communities and fantastic locally-owned coffee shops. Whether it’s visiting the Menil Art Museum, Rothko Chapel, or having a great meal at Brasil, drinks at Agora or even shopping the antique shops on Yale, this area is like a completely self contained town within the fourth largest city in the US.

Galleria Area

Home to such upscale areas as the Galleria Mall and the Post Oak shopping areas, the Galleria area also has wonderful nightlife spots like Mary’z Lebanese Restaurant and Shae’s favorite, the Richmond Arms Pub. Of course, if you’re looking for shopping areas, look no further. This place has everything. You could spend a whole day in the Container Store and organize your entire existence or you could go to IKEA without any tools at all and build your whole future with an Allen wrench and some Swedish meatballs.
